Instead of ordering dog treats and pet supplies online, here are five dog food recipes, you can try at home to give your dog a wholesome treat.
1. Chicken Jerky
Chicken jerky is a healthy alternative to rawhide treats. These are chewy enough to keep your dog occupied for quite a long time. Rich in essential proteins, chicken jerky is a great source of nutrition for your dog and extremely beneficial for its muscles. To prepare the treat, marinate chicken breasts (1 pound, skinless with the fat trimmed off) in a mixture of dog safe peanut butter (1 tbspn) and soya sauce (1/4 tspn). Then freeze the chicken as it makes it easier to cut. Once slightly hard, slice the chicken as thin as possible. Slice along the grain for extra chewiness. Spread the slices on a baking tray and bake at 170° F for 2 hours till the chicken is dry and hard. Store the treats in an air tight container and treat your dog to a few every now and again.
2. Frozen Yogurt Pops
This is one of the best frozen delights you can get for your pet dog. The treat is made of fat-free yogurt, fruit juice and carrot paste. Nutrition wise, it is a wonderful blend of vitamins from the fruits and carrots and calcium and protein from the yogurt- perfect for your dog’s digestion. Simple blend all the ingredients to a smooth paste and freeze the mixture in ice cube trays.
3. Beef and Vegetable Balls
This treat has a perfect meaty flavor and an aroma which your dog will be unable to resist. All you need to do is mix two 6 ounce jars of meat and vegetable baby food with water (1 cup), wheat flour (1 cup) and powdered milk (2 cups). Make small balls out of this mixture and bake at 350° F for 15 minutes. The only limitation of this wonderful dog treat is that it cannot be stored for very long, five days in the refrigerator maximum.
4. Beef St
